The location of the apartment was selected very carefully, offering an ideal balance between the peace
and tranquility of the complex and the lively bars and restaurants. 5 minutes walk from the apartment takes
you to an attractive courtyard with a bar, restaurant, internet, cafe, DVD hire and some shops. A further
10 minutes walk takes you to Puerto de la Duquesa, known as the new Golden Mile on the Costa Del Sol, with
a very attractive marina.

The Costa Del Sol in Southern Spain benefits from exceptionally good Mediterranean weather with an average of
more than three hundred sunny days a year and can still be warm during the winter months of November to February.
The nearest beach spans both sides of the port on one side past the town of Sabinillas (20 min walk via
the promenade) and on the other past the fishing hamlet of Castillo Duquesa. The Port has all the essential
shops including a small supermarket, newsagent, internet cafe, and gift shop.
Sabinillas has a wider variety
of shops including four larger supermarkets. The resort of Estepona is a 10 minute drive away with its many
shops, a large hypermarket, long promenade and sunny beach.
There is much to do in this part of Spain, including a wealth of places of interest away from the hustle and
bustle of the Costa.
You can easily reach other locations on the Costa as shown on the grid below.

Estepona is the nearest large resort with a very Spanish feel. Good beaches
and restaurants.
Gibraltar is worth a day out. Take an organized 4 hour tour by minibus for
best effect. Duty free really cheap – pays for trip if you have not flown in via Gibraltar.
Malaga is the largest centre around with international shops, museums and
other places of interest you would expect in a large city.
Marbella and Puerto Banus are the upmarket tourist centres on the Costa.
Worth a visit – particualrly to Orange Square in Marbella Old Town and the Port at Puerto Banus (definitely
try Picasso’s on the Front – the best pizza and creperie house around).
Sotogrande is a new port with stunning self catering complexes. Best to visit
by taking a short cruise from Puerto de la Duquesa (approx 20 euro each for a party of 6 for one hour).
Costa de la Luz – beyond Gibraltar towards Cadiz there are beautiful sandy
beaches on the Atlantic coast - great for surfing. A worthwhile day’s excursion.
Casares – a typical White Town just 15 minutes drive away in the hills behind
Duquesa. Well worth exploring. The village is built on a steep slope so be prepared for many steps!
Guicin – another White Town from where you can take many enjoyable walks.
Ronda - the most well known mountain town north of Marbella along a scenic
mountain road from San Pedro.
The local mountain – there is a road from Estepona up to the top of this
4,500ft mountain which affords magnificent views of the coast from Gibraltar to Malaga. The mountain can be
seen from the front door and the second bedroom window! This is a worthwhile 40 minute drive with walks in
the forest near the summit.
National Forests – there are several national forests with great mountain walks
– all within one hour's drive.
The area between Gibraltar and Malaga is a paradise for golfers with over forty courses to choose from and indeed
the apartments themselves are surrounded by Duquesa Golf Course. This course has all that an expert or amateur player
needs. It was designed by the world renowned and prestigious Mr. Robert Trent Jones. Located as it is with views of
the sea and mountains, this course enjoys a well deserved reputation. There are other superb golf courses within 15
minutes of Duquesa and these include Estepona, San Roque, Sotogrande and the world famous Valderrama. Golf prices
and other information about the courses can be obtained in the Port.
